Reflection and idea development

In reflection to my research I have done, my ideas have changed from the start of my research to now. This is because I have a lot more knowledge on the thriller genre and what the conventions of a thriller include.  

In my thriller I will include different camera shots such as , Close-ups, Long shots etc. This will give the audience a better perspective and better understanding of the scene. I now know what is effective in thrillers, this has changed my original idea to my current idea now.  In my thriller, i want to have one main antagonist who is trying to murder three innocent people, the antagonist will use props such as knifes, guns etc. The idea is that all three of the victims try to escape in different ways causing chaos for the antagonist. I want to end my thriller on a cliffhanger leaving the audience to guess what happens next. This is because due to my research i know people find cliffhangers and plot twists in thrillers effective and it is what they enjoy seeing in thriller movies.

Steve Neale Genre theory

 Steve Neale Genre theory  Neale believes that films of a type (genre, like romance or horror) should include features that are similar, so the audience know it is a horror film or romance, but also include features that are different, to keep an audience interested. This is his theory of repetition and difference. In his words “genres are instances of repetition and difference.” He believes that difference is essential as if there is no difference the audience will not attract the audience.
